Must I live in London?
No. We also have members that live in surrounding communities such as Arva, Ilderton, St. Thomas, and Strathroy.
How many years may I belong to LNC?
You can be a member of LNC indefinitely.
Membership Fee
What period does the membership fee cover?
Your membership fee covers membership from July to June the following year. (There is a reduced fee if you join after January 1st).
What is the membership fee used for?
The LNC is run entirely by volunteers and is a non-profit organization. Membership fees are used to cover liability and directors’ insurance policies, fees to National Newcomers, promotional materials and overhead such as maintaining our website, phone number and other administrative expenses. We also hold new members information meetings, new members welcome meetings, and convenors meetings. Funds are also used to subsidize the cost of our quarterly socials.
What is the cost if I want to join only one interest group?
The membership fee covers the cost of joining the LNC. You can join a single interest group or as many interest groups as you like, once you are a member – the cost remains the same.
Can I get a refund – I never got around to attending anything?
The membership fee is non-refundable, so make sure you get involved as soon as you join!
Member Communication
How does the Club communicate with its members?
We communicate to our members by email, primarily on a monthly basis when we distribute the newsletter and contact list. We also post the information on our website under the member’s login.
Once you have submitted your membership form and payment, our Membership Coordinator will contact you. (Please allow for 7 – 10 days for payment processing and your information to be added).
Do you use Facebook?
We currently only have a public Facebook page for prospective members or general public to promote our club.
Activity Groups
How can I sign up for an activity?
Once the newsletter is published on the 20th of each month; you can find the host RSVP information listed under each activity in the newsletter. Participation in activities is based on a ‘first come/first served’ basis, and the host will confirm your registration. If an activity is full you can ask to be put on a waiting list should anyone cancel.
I have an idea for a new activity, who do I talk to?
Our club depends on its members to set up and operate all of the activities offered, so if you have a new idea for a new activity group, then please approach the Convenor Coordinator, or any member of the Executive Board who will help you.
Do you have to pay $ to attend activity events?
It depends on the event. Some events are free of charge like euchre, knitting, book clubs, and many others. Activities such as breakfast get together and dining out will be at your own cost. Beginner’s Mah Jongg has a nominal fee for the facility usage, and Day Trippers and Socials will publish the cost to attend. All activities with a fee will be stated in the newsletter.
Do I have to host events?
Some activity groups meet in members’ homes, to avoid venue rental costs. Generally, people take it in turns to host; however, there may be occasions where you feel unable to do so. In this event, you can contact the convenor of the group to discuss other ways in which you can help – perhaps by co-hosting by helping with refreshments.

I am a new member, what happens next?
Once you have joined our club, our Membership Coordinator will reach out to you. She will send you a welcome package with the latest newsletter, and forward your details to the coordinators of the activities you’re interested in. If you have any questions at that point, feel free to contact her.
If you would like a buddy to accompany you to your first activity, please let the Membership Coordinator know and she will arrange this for you. We were all in your shoes once and remember how hard it can be to take that first step.
I completed my form but haven’t heard from you….
Please ensure that you have also made payment to the club either by cheque or e-transfer. We are operated by volunteers, so it may be that it takes 7-10 days for confirmation of a completed form and appropriate payment. Thereafter, please contact our Membership Co-ordinator at londonnewcomers@outlook.com
I want to get more involved with the Club, what can I do?
You can get involved many ways such as:
- Hosting: Activity groups are regularly looking for hosts. You can contact the convenor of the activity you are interested in; they are listed in the contact list. Or you can ask the current host when you are attending the activity for more information.
- Convening: If you are interested in convening an existing or new activity, please contact the Convenors Coordinator; she is listed in the contact list.
- Executive Team: Recruitment for these roles takes place in January – May each year. However, if you are interested, please reach out at any time of the year.
May I bring other people to events?
You may bring prospective members to one activity or social, to let them see what we are about. There are a few activities where you can bring a friend or spouse to, such as wine night and dining out. These are noted in the newsletter. Otherwise, activities are for members only.
Can I try the club out before I join?
Yes, you are welcome to join us for one activity or social, to see what we are about. Please contact our Membership Coordinator if you are interested in this.
Can I get a lift to the events?
Typically, we don’t arrange transportation. However, for Day Trippers, the coordinator may organize carpooling if the location is outside of London.
Can I use the membership contact list to…
LNC is not a place to solicit business. Our by-laws specifically state that club members’ personal information is to be used for club purposes only and not intended to be used for the solicitation of business by members or other persons. Nor should it be distributed to persons who are not club members
